LA Weekly has moved their offices to a new building on Sepulveda Blvd. in Culver City, and invited Saber to paint a large mural in the lobby.

I took this photo of downtown Los Angeles from the roof top of the famous Taft building on the corner on Hollywood and Vine. It came out a little blurry so I thought it was a perfect reference for an abstract painting of LA, and this was the perfect place to paint it.

At first Saber had some trouble with the stiff shirts not understanding his vision. “I felt I had to bring some raw elements into the mural, like the hand-style border, to balance out the new modern template that’s been imposed by the new owners from Phoenix”.

Predictably, after the completion of the piece everyone was pleased.
