Glorious Excess (Dies): Paintings by Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda August 30 - October 4, 2009
Following his highly-successful 2008 show, Glorious Excess (Born), Mike Shinoda returns to the National Museum to unveil his latest collection of paintings and digital works. Larger, broader, and more sensational than before, Glorious Excess (Dies) is the next chapter in his series exploring society’s obsession with celebrity culture, consumer addiction, and fascination with excess.
Shinoda’s new works continue to evolve, blending his personal experiences in the spotlight with social commentary and fine art technique while expanding his signature visual vocabulary, juxtaposing symbols of death, money and sex against vibrant neo-pop imagery. In an age where superstardom dominates the media, Glorious Excess (Dies) immortalizes consumption, fame and wealth, challenging the viewer to question what is real.
Greetings all,
Paperworks Laboratories linked up with legendary Los Angeles graffiti crew
AWR/MSK to create this benefit print to coincide with their show at Canvas
called “Send Lawyers, Guns and Money.” Featured on this print is Revok,
Retna, Augor, and Pose. These writers are nothing short of amazing. From
showing their artwork in galleries worldwide to having Takashi Murakami
take down one of his billboards they vandalized to keep for his personal
collection this crew will be making a lot of noise in the art world for
years to come. This 18×24 inch 5 colors hand pulled fine art print
featuring all 4 artists signatures will be available exclusively online at
Paperworks Laboratories. The print will be in a very limited edition of
100 and only 30 will be available online.
Thanks and Best,
Paperworks Laboratories
